Shipping management has always been personnel intensive with significant travel requirements for multiple personnel associated with safety inspections for verification of vessels systems and operation. These inspections are the backbone of Maritime Safety across the whole sector, providing a robust system that has seen massive improvements in safety and significant decline in vessel casualties.

The clean air plan calls for a systems based approach so it is not just the vessels emitting carbon, the shipping services sectors, unaccounted for in the shipping data has a significantly impact on emissions through travel and associated carbon footprint.

Travel restrictions from COVID highlighted the need for a robust remote inspection capability that provided a high level of assurance and confidence in the results to maintain and improve Safety Standards. There were no such systems in place in the Maritime sector and the Marinspector is designed to fill that space by providing an interactive platform that gave an accurate and verifiable record of inspection. The system uses commonly utilised tools such as mobile phones and the internet to maximise inspection capability anywhere in the world, on and off line, without restriction of requiring specialist equipment.

The system will potentially reduce the number of ship visits by an average of six per year, saving thousands of airmiles, personnel time and carbon footprint and similarly in the maritime services sector, we see significant cost and carbon savings on travel previously necessary for quality Marine assurance processes. It also provides a platform for our clients to undertake their remote assurance inspections, doubling these numbers. As a small business, these represent a significant percentage of carbon footprint and this can be replicated across the industry with a not dissimilar percentage

The Marinspector tool allows real time interactive inspection against any standard or nonstandard questionnaires with interactive photographic and video techniques that are directly linked to the questions for accurate record keeping. Using icloud storage, the records are accessible to multiple managers and historical records and images can be cross referenced with current condition to verify repairs and recommendations have been completed. The system meets the Quality Standards of being able to accurately close out the inspection without additional visits.
