Ashley Nicholson

Ashley Nicholson started her career as vessel traffic service operator and has been working in the Ports Sector for over a decade. 

Ashley presently holds the role of President of the United Kingdom Harbour Masters Assertion and Senior Harbour Master at Forth Ports. Ashley has extensive experience in Port Operations and Management having lead teams in both Marine Safety and Operations sectors of the business. 

She previously won the prestigious Scottish Engineering/Incorporation of Hammermen of Glasgow Award for the role she played in managing the marine operations during the construction of the new Queensferry Crossing in the River Forth and also more recently received the Women in Industry award from the Centre for Engineering Education and Development Industry Awards 2020 for her continued efforts to drive the change required to ensure a more gender diverse workforce within the maritime sector. 

Ashley is looking to help other organisations diversify their interview process. Having taken part in many interview panels in recent years Ashley wishes to help other organisations recognising the positive impact a diverse panel can have on both candidate confidence and reputational benefits to the organisation by demonstrating at this very early stage that they take diversity seriously.
