Cathryn Spain

Cathryn is Senior Harbour Master with the Port of London Authority, where she has worked for the past 7 years. Cathryn is part of the PLA’s Senior Management Team and is responsible for the management of navigational safety on the tidal Thames. Prior to coming ashore to work in the Ports Industry she spent 18 years at sea, working on a variety of vessels, including containerships, fast ferries and small cruise ships and has experienced first-hand the consequences of a lack of diversity within the maritime industry.

Cathryn has sat on a number of interview panels and recognises the importance not only of having a diverse pool of candidates, but also the need for diversity within the interview panel.
