Ines is an award-winning journalist who has been been working for IHS Markit at the London headquarters since September 2018 when she joined the company as editor of Dredging and Ports Construction magazine before taking over as editor of Ports & Harbors, the membership publication of the International Association of Ports and Harbors (IAPH) in December 2019.

Ines is responsible for the delivery of a bi-monthly magazine, always on the lookout for the latest market trends in order to keep readers informed, as well as the supplement production of Maritime and Trade editorial publications. She has also moderated a number of webinars for the IAPH World Ports Conference.

Making use of her experience in multi-media and data-driven storytelling, her focus for the company’s maritime portfolio has been to establish the utilisation of IHS Markit’s rich dredging, port and maritime data and to translate those datasets into interactive and print visualisations to give an insight into fleet data, port infrastructure developments and shipbuilding trends as well as casualty incidents.

Prior to joining IHS Markit, Ines was the editor of the specialist materials science titles Materials World and Clay Technology, the membership publications of the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining in the UK.

Ines started her maritime journalism career in 2015 at The Marine Professional, the membership publication of the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science, and Technology.

Ines also worked as a freelance journalist for English and German media after having graduated from the MA Science Journalism at City University London in 2015 and she started my career as a journalist traditionally while still in school  — as a freelance reporter on the local paper back home in Germany.
