Karina Albers

Karina Albers currently practices as a Maritime Arbitrator, Commercial Disputes Mediator and Expert in London, Hamburg, and Singapore. She is an aspiring full member of the London Maritime Arbitrators Association, a member of the German Maritime Arbitration Association, the SCMA and she is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators in London. She also works as a shipping & commodity derivatives consultant and as an expert witness in leading cases in London, New York and Singapore.

She was previously engaged for some twenty years in the chartering, trading and ship broking business. Karina Albers has extensive experience in the charter market, commodity & derivative markets for shipping, fertiliser and in the energy sector. She has played a leading role in building the freight derivatives industry since 1997. Before establishing her own consulting business, Ms Albers spent three years heading the ship broking devision of the German shipowner Ernst Russ GmbH & Co KG in Hamburg. Prior to that she spent three years in Brussels with Yara Belgium S.A. setting up their fertiliser derivative trading operation as well as being in charge of their fleet of LPG carriers.
