2023 Maritime Masters Industry Adoption

Maritime UK’s Maritime Masters programme is strengthening links between UK industry and academia. The programme promotes academic excellence amongst students and their universities, whilst providing valuable research to support the maritime sector’s work. 

The UK is the world's maritime centre. Its offer in maritime services, encompassing education and research, is globally recognised and valued. This programme will help celebrate these academic and research assets.

Submit student topics

As an integral part of the programme's main aim, companies and organisations from the maritime sector are now invited to submit research themes and topics that students can choose to undertake or be inspired by. Efforts will be made to pair students up with relevant industry adopters to facilitate exchange in the research process. 

Industry submissions have now opened for 2023.

What does industry adoption entail?

  • Providing your knowledge and industry expertise to support the student in their research
  • Providing available data relevant to the student research 
  • Providing the opportunity for the student to visit your business or other relevant organisations in your network to aide their research
  • Being available for student support on an ad hoc basis, through communication via e-mail and by phone

Upon completion of their research, students will have the opportunity to present their findings to industry leaders at a high-level London event in late October. Industry leaders will then vote for their winning research, and that student will win a cash prize. Through industry participants and sponsors, students will be exposed to work experience and employment opportunities within the sector. 

The university courses involved represent a broad overview of UK academic abilities, ranging from naval architecture to maritime economics, ship management to shipping law.

The Maritime Masters programme facilitate a range of events throughout the academic year. We are therefore always happy to get in touch with businesses or organisations who wish to contribute to events aimed at postgraduate students in maritime disciplines across the UK

Submit a research topic
