News: Chevron Corporation sponsor Diversity Award

Maritime UK has announced Chevron Corporation will sponsor the Diversity Award for the second Maritime UK Awards. The awards recognises the very best of the UK’s maritime sector. 

Chevron Corporation is an American multinational energy corporation. One of the successor companies of Standard Oil, it is headquartered in San Ramon, California, and active in more than 180 countries. Chevron is engaged in every aspect of the oil, natural gas, and geothermal energy industries, including hydrocarbon exploration and production; refining, marketing and transport; chemicals manufacturing and sales; and power generation.

The Maritime UK Awards, launched in 2019 as the first truly national maritime awards in the UK, organised by industry, for the benefit of industry. The second iteration of the event will take place in Plymouth on 12 November, 2020, in partnership with Plymouth City Council.

Chevron Corporation is sponsoring the Diversity category, one that Barbara Pickering Vice President Operations, Chevron Shipping Company said: “People are at the center of everything we do at Chevron. We wanted to sponsor the diversity award to support and highlight the fantastic work of the UK maritime sector at improving and demonstrating the importance of diversity in business.

The awards, which are open to companies from across the breadth of the maritime sector including its shipping, ports, services, engineering, and leisure marine industries, opened on 8 June and applications are already piling in.
