International Maritime Forum 2018

This unique shipping conference will focus on the Northern Maritime Powerhouse and its role in driving global trade in a post-Brexit Britain. It will look at how digitalisation and increased connectivity can enhance port processes and innovative solutions can transform maritime transport by ensuring maximum transparency. It will discuss block chain technologies and big data in the context of streamlining shipping and port operations to the lasting benefit of the end-users: the importers and exporters. Organised by Shipping Innovation, creator of London International Shipping Week, this high-level forum is designed to spark lively debate among key ports, shippers and supply chain leaders.

The International Maritime Forum brings together key thought leaders in ports and shipping to discuss what Britain must do to boost trading activity as it is forced reach out to the East and to the West to develop new trading partners, exploit new capacities and learn new ideas from world-leading ports and maritime authorities. 

It will examine the role of the international shipping community. Looking West, it will examine the importance of Panama in the growth of world trade, while looking East, it will debate China’s growing influence and its all-embracing One Belt, One Road concept, applying it to the international shipping sector and seeing what implications is has for global shipping markets?

The conference will discuss enhancing supply chain efficiency and transparency through digitalisation, and take a hard look at what the shipper actually wants.

This session will look at how enhanced connectivity and increased cooperation between ports, regions and countries will lead to growth and prosperity. 

Looking to the future, the conference will debate what makes maritime clusters work and will look at the importance of public-private partnerships. It will end with a refection from one of Britain’s leaders in shipping and logistics on how to forge a supply chain with no weak links.
