The third and final webinar in support of the 2023 Maritime Masters programme will focus on decarbonisation as the key challenge and opportunity facing the global maritime industry.

Against the background of the recent re-set of the IMO GHG strategy, and wiht consideration of the determination of checkpoints,  three speakers will provide three perspectives on this critical topic:

  • Harriet Hunnisett-Johnson, Maritime Innovation Manager, Signol - Drawing on her experience of the aviation industry, Harriet will explain support which can be given to Masters and Chief Engineers to improve fuel saving.
  • Joe Parsons, Senior Carbon Consultant, Royal HaskoningDHV - Joe will discuss the difficulties many organisations face in the maritime sector when establishing the boundary for their carbon footprint. The presentation will touch on the principles of carbon accounting, in terms of Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions, and how these can be applied to the maritime sector. He will also consider how these challenges can transformed into opportunities for the sector to achieve its emission reduction targets.
