People and Skills Forum

What's wrong with apprenticeships in the marine industry? Despite a huge amount of effort being put in by marine employers to develop a range of different apprenticeships, the level of take up is very low. This is despite the funding opportunities that they can provide. So what is the barrier to increasing uptake?
In this session of the People and Skills forum, we plan to debate and better understand the reasons why employers are not using apprenticeships and, explore what can be done by developers, employers, agencies and training providers to enable the marine industry to benefit from them. The session will not be just a talking shop, but a useful session to help inform the work of the Maritime Skills Alliance and feed into work being completed by the Maritime Skills Commission.
The session will start at 14.00 and run through until approximately 16.00 on Thursday 1st June.
The People and Skills Forum is led and chaired by the Maritime Skills Alliance on behalf of Maritime UK. It is open to anyone working in the learning and development field or others who have an interest in skills development in the maritime sector. All are welcome and we look forward to hearing your views
