Virtual Careers Fair

The Maritime UK Week Virtual Careers Fair is for young people aged 11 - 22. This will be an online event and will give attendees the opportunity to learn about maritime careers directly from employers. Representatives from industries across the sector including the Merchant Navy, shipbuilding, naval architecture, engineering, maritime business services, advanced manufacturing, leisure, renewable energy, ports and harbours, workboats and more will be participating.
This UK-wide event is being delivered in partnership with Maritime UK Solent.

Key information about the event:
1. We will be broadcasting 3 simultaneous live streams on YouTube which you will have access to.
2. Children under the age of 18 can only access via a registration by their teacher, tutor or careers adviser for safeguarding purposes.
3. We hope schools and colleges will be able to project the live stream on whiteboards and any questions that may come up can be put into the live chat.
4. For those who are working remotely you can share your screen via your virtual meeting platform for young people at home.
5. Young people aged 18 and older will be able to enter as individuals.
6. Due to a large number of employers being interested we have made the event longer, broadcasting from 09:30 until 16:00.
7. There will be a web page with all organisations listed and some information about them as well as running times with all YouTube links.
8. Each employer will get a 25 minute slot where there will be time for a Q&A Session
9. Final lists of employers will be confirmed on Thursday 8 October
10. We hope for Further Education, University and Apprenticeship providers to have videos broadcasted.
11. A member of the Solent LEP team will be in every session for support.

13. You can use resources found on the Maritime UK website. This will help in providing evidence of Gatsby Benchmark 5 to use attendance to prove meaningful encounters with employers. You can access the following resources. Videos, the Careers Brochure and Lesson Plans.
14. A survey will be distributed after the event, and it is compulsory that you complete this. We will be asking key questions, including number of students attending for an overall number of participants.
15. The whole event will be recorded and clipped for use on the Maritime UK website.
