FAQs for companies

What is the Diversity in Maritime Speaker Bank and how will it benefit my company?

The Speaker Bank provides a portfolio of diverse speakers, as well as female technical speakers, from protected characteristics across the maritime sector to help meeting, event and conference planners increase diversity in their panels and speaker programmes. The bank is composed of volunteers who are professionals in the industry and can speak on a range of technical and industry specific topics. The resource is an easy-to-use tool which takes the stress out of searching for an expert speaker.

How much does it cost?

The Speaker Bank is free to use and does not require registration. Just use the search facility to find speakers on the subjects you are interested in.

How often can I use it?

We would recommend using the Speaker Bank wherever you need a maritime speaker. You can use it as often as you wish.

What kind of speakers are on the speaker bank?

Speakers in the Speaker Bank are experts from a wide range of backgrounds including engineering, leisure marine, maritime services, ports and harbours and shipping.

What speaking experience do they have?

The experience of speakers will vary. Please check their bios or ask them directly which sorts of events they have spoken at in the past.

How does it work?

Use the search facility to look for speakers who are experts on a certain maritime sector or field, then contact the speaker directly to tell them more about the event and what you are looking for. We'd recommend including details such as:

  • when the event will be
  • where it will be
  • who will the audience be
  • how many delegates will attend
  • the event schedule/ programme
  • what you want them to speak about and the format it will be panel/ keynote etc
  • will there be any other speakers
  • what will they speak about

How much notice do I need to give speakers?

To avoid disappointment is best to book speakers with as much advance notice as possible. The more notice you give, the more likely the speaker is to be available.

How much do I need to pay speakers?

Speakers are volunteers and therefore there is no requirement to pay them. It is best practice to cover their expenses.
