Biography

Katarzyna Patryniak is currently entering her final year of a degree in MEng Naval Architecture, in the High Performance Marine Vehicles programme, at the University of Strathclyde. Having developed a passion for hydrodynamics, she completed two summer internships with a Dutch company and focused her research on project involving Computational Fluid Dynamics, optimisation and research into foils performance.

Why did you choose maritime as yous area of study and research?

When I was fourteen, I took part in the Class Afloat project. Following a year of volunteering with disabled children and completing different qualifications, I got to spend a semester on board a ship sailing from Poland to the Caribbean. This is where I first experiences the power of the ocean, and got inspired to learn more about it. Matching my passion for sailing and curiosity for the ocean with high engineering skills, the maritime sector was a natural choice.

What do you hope to get out of participating in the Maritime Masters programme?

I am pleased to have to opportunity to take part in the Maritime Masters programme. I hope to receive valuable feedback on my research, and inspiration for future development. I believe that an effective cooperation between the universitieis and the industry is essential for sound functioning on both sides, and I am glad to be a part of it.
